I can see photos in Oppo just fine on my home computer, but since yesterday, I haven't been seeing them on my laptop (which I use during the day). Anything I can do to fix this?

Can you run grease monkey (fire fox extension) or tamper monkey (chrome extension) at work? I have the same problem, but I made a script that removes the cloud portion from the url to all images so you can see them.

hmm, I see images are now hosted by i.kinja-img.com (no longer cloudinary).
The script I wrote would also be able to remove that from urls (see my other response).
I now don't actually need the script anymore since my work isn't (yet) blocking kinja-img.

I can use IE for internal intranet only, and Firefox for browsing the web. I'm prohibited from installing any other browser.

No idea. I am one of 500K users, and I don't think I want to ask my regional ISO why Cloudinary is filtered.
It's best for a contractor to not ask questions of why I can't read Gawker while on a federal government network.

That would have been the most helpful information, but understood. When you're back on that network and images are being blocked, could you right click the browser and choose 'Inspect Element', then click 'Console' to see if there are any specific messages that are being returned. A copy paste of your entire console on a pageload with no images could be useful.

Ernie, now that I'm back at my desk, this is what I'm seeing this morning on my network.
Let's use this post as an example.

It is currently on the front page of Oppositelock, and displays like this to me.
I can tell there is an image there, but it does not show.
Once I open the post, the image does still not display. Only the "expand" to enlarge the image is displayed.
When I click on the "expand," the expanded image pop up does appear, and the URL is the old img.gawkerassets URL, not the ikinja-img URL.
This is true for every post on the front page of Oppositelock.
When I inspect the "Expand" option, this is what I get.

Ernie, this is weird as shit.
When I view this comment on my personal page, it displays a thumbnail.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
When I click on the comment from my personal page, it displays the expanded comment on the original post, it shows the images.
HOWEVER...
When I collapse my comment amidst the rest of the comments, the images disappear and I only get text.
When I re-expand the comment, there are no images.
What kind of oddball scripting shit is going on here?

Ernie, I figured out the lack of thumbnails and images in oppo.
It's Cloudinary. All thumbnails and images have ikinja-img URLs
However, it's inconstant as shit. Some appear, some do not. If you expand a comment by the icon, the image URLs are ikinja-img. If you expand it by the date, the image URLs are img.gawkerasset.
Cloundinary.com is not filtered on my network, but the ikinja URLs are.

The inconsistency is because Cloudinary hasn't rolled out in full, it's still in testing stages. The problem here is that this is really hard to pin if we can't reproduce it, and we'd have a better chance of doing that if we knew which firewall/web filter you're using, and it sounds like getting that information is not an option.
In the permalink (before you hit expand) are there any http error codes in your console? A full screenshot of the console area might be helpful.
